ABSTRACT:
The objective of this article is to approach the strength of Identity in the applica-
tion of the International Co-operation for Development, based on three aspects:

of the issue and the governments from developed countries; the emergence of new
international actors responsible of development co-operation; and the economic
crisis that hits the developed countries that caused and led the new actors take a
more active role in Development Co-operation. The analysis is done through re-
viewing the data of World Bank and NGOs with the aim of establishing their role
in co-operation, their results and concluding that the identity of the countries that
receives economic resources appears, on a recurrent basis, as a means to adopt
