Abstract. The Mexican govern-
ment faces several challenges that
are becoming more complicated
day by day. One of these challen-
ges is immigration. This can be
seen through the analysis of what
was expressed in the joint state-
ment made by Mexico and United
States of June 7, 2019 in Washin-
gton, D.C., where Mexico com-
mitted to strengthening actions to
ensure compliance with the Mexi-
can Law on immigration. Literally
enforcing “its eort signicantly by
implementing Mexican law in or-
der to reduce irregular migration,
including the deployment of the
National Guard throughout the na-
tional territory, giving priority to
the southern border.” (Gobierno de
México, 2019), However, the com-
mitment to guarantee the human ri-
ghts of immigrants was still stated.
A commitment which as we will see
later, has not been fully fullled.
Resumen. El actual gobierno fede-
ral mexicano enfrenta varios retos
que cada vez se complican más, tal
es el caso del tema migratorio. Bas-
ta analizar lo expresado en la decla-
ración conjunta hecha por México
y Estados Unidos del 7 de junio de
2019 en Washington D.C., en el
que México se comprometió al re-
forzamiento de las acciones para
asegurar el cumplimiento de la ley
en materia migratoria, obligándo-
se literalmente a hacer “signicati-
vamente su esfuerzo de aplicación
de la ley mexicana a n de reducir
la migración irregular, incluyendo
el despliegue de la Guardia Nacio-
nal en todo el territorio nacional,
dando prioridad a la frontera sur”
(Gobierno de México, 2019). En la
misma declaración se hizo referen-
cia al compromiso de garantizar los
derechos humanos de los migran-
tes, cuestión que, como veremos
más adelante, no ha sido cumplida
a cabalidad.
