Automotive industry contributed 3.7 percent of the national GDP in 2017.

Mexico, Dec. 12 (Notimex).- In 2017, the automotive industry in Mexico contributed 3.7 percent of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 20.2 percent of manufacturing GDP, being the second economic activity with the highest participation in the sector, after of the food industry.

This is in accordance with the document "Knowing the automotive industry", published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI, for its acronym in Spanish) and the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA, for its acronym in Spanish), which aims to present the general public and national and international specialists. international indicators relevant to one of the most important industries in the country.
